Futurama Race
Futurama is an American animated science fiction sitcom that was created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The show follows the adventures of Philip J. Fry, a pizza delivery boy from New York City in the late 20th century who is accidentally cryogenically frozen for a millennium before waking up in the futuristic 31st century. Upon awakening, Fry finds employment at Planet Express, an interplanetary delivery company that serves as the central hub for the show's adventures.
Matt Groening first conceived of Futurama in the mid-1990s while still working on his iconic show, The Simpsons. He enlisted the help of David X. Cohen to develop the storylines and characters for the series, eventually pitching the show to Fox. Futurama aired in the United States on Fox from March 28, 1999, to August 10, 2003, before production came to a halt. The show then found a new home in reruns on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim from 2003 to 2007.
In 2007, Futurama was revived through a series of four direct-to-video films, with the last film releasing in early 2009. Comedy Central later entered into an agreement with 20th Century Fox Television to syndicate the existing episodes and air the films as 16 new, half-hour episodes, effectively constituting a fifth season for the beloved series. Futurama is known for its wit, clever writing, and unique blend of science fiction and humor, making it a cult classic among fans of animated television.
